Sell Your Diamond Ring
When thinking of selling your diamond ring, it’s important to understand the factors that contribute to its overall value to make sure you get the highest and fairest amount for your diamonds. Natural diamonds have specific characteristics that contribute to their value. When having us evaluate your diamond, our in-house GIA certified specialist will determine the diamond’s value based on diamond weight, cut quality, color, and clarity.
We’ve identified the following features that determine your diamond’s value when selling your diamond ring.
Diamond Weight & Dimensions
Diamond weight is calculated in carats. It’s a standard form of measurement equal to 200 mg or 0.00643 troy oz. If you have a loose diamond or a certified diamond, it’s easier for us to calculate the diamond weight either from the certificate or via a scale. However, if you don’t have a certificate or the diamond is mounted in jewelry, we can calculate the approximate carat weight of the diamond using its measurements. Diamond weight is a contributing factor to diamond pricing when selling your ring, as it helps in determining how big your diamond is. The larger the stone, the higher the price you can get when selling your diamond rings or jewelry.
Diamond Cut
The cut of your diamond will also contribute to its sales value. The diamond’s cut quality will vary by diamond shape and considers the overall design and craftsmanship. It takes into account the diamond measurements and the symmetry of the facets and quality of the polish on the stone. These factors will showcase how the diamond interacts with light for visual effects like its brightness, the fire, and scintillation of the stone to the eye.
Diamond Color & Clarity
Determining a diamond’s color takes a lot of training and skill. We’re able to do this in-house with our internal gemologist. The lack of color in the stone makes it increasingly more valuable than a diamond with visible color. Same for the clarity of the diamond. Clarity is the amount or lack of inclusions in the diamond. These can be in the form of feathers, indented naturals, crystals, etc. Diamonds without inclusions are considered flawless and are very rare and are worth a higher value.
